Horticulture one of the efficient and prominent sector to contribute 25 % of our total agricultural export earning, reduce malnutrition deficiency and upliftment of our Indian poor people from poverty. Horticultural crop production increasing in India since in last 30 years. India is the second leading producer in the world in the field of fruits and vegetables. Hosur is the world best climate for growing rose cut flowers and India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of spices.
Adhiyaman College of Agriculture and Research (ACAR), Athimugam this is the only affiliated private college from TNAU possible to grow all winter season vegetables, cut flower and commercial seed production possible in plains of Tamil Nadu. Horticulture department is offering the course, HOR 111 Fundamentals of Horticulture (1+1) in the first year, HOR 112 Production Technology for Fruit and Plantation Crops (1+1) for the 1st year 2nd sem, HOR 211 Production Technology for Vegetables and Spices (1+1) second year 1st semester, HOR 212 Production Technology for Ornamental Crops, MAP and Landscaping (1+1) and HOR 311 Post harvest management and value addition of fruits and vegetable crops (1+1) of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree programme
Horticulture lab contains all the tools and implements which needed to do all the practical experiments. We have all the facility in the field for raising all kind of fruits, flower crops, vegetables and spices. Currently raising all kind of plant for related to course work and we involved student for preparing cutting, grafting and layering. Commercially producing fresh vegetables free from residues to supply student hostel throughout the year. It is the one of the best climates for growing all king of horticulture plants especially flower crops and winter season vegetables.
